Norman M. Powell to speak at the ABA BLS Annual Meeting

September 9, 2016

The American Bar Association Business Law Section Annual Meeting will take place Thursday, September 8 through Saturday, September 10, 2016. Norman M. Powell will be presenting “The Brave New World of Electronic UCC Filing” along with Paul Hodnefield from Corporation Service Company and Anna Mills of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP. Since December 2015, the State of Delaware no longer accepts paper UCC filings. This session will provide attendees with valuable information about the State’s three electronic filing options: the e-UCC web application; XML (available to Authorized UCC Filers only); and electronic submission of images of completed financing statement forms, accompanied by basic keyed-in data. A small but growing number of other states no longer permit paper or paper-based UCC filings.

Mr. Powell is a partner in the Delaware law firm of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP, where his practice includes formation of and service as Delaware counsel to corporations, limited liability companies, and statutory trusts, and the delivery of legal opinions relating to such entities, security interests, and other matters of Delaware law. He is an American Bar Association advisor to the Permanent Editorial Board on the UCC and an American Bar Association Business Law Section Advisor to the Uniform Law Commission’s Series of Unincorporated Business Entities Committee. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Mr. Powell can be reached at [email protected].
