The firm's Employee Benefits Section advises business clients as well as governmental agencies on legal issues relating to employee benefits. The attorneys in this section meet monthly to review matters of current interest, including the ever-changing tax laws and interpretations regarding: 

    • Qualified retirement plans (401(K), 403(b)) and other employee benefit plan design,
       implementation, administration and compliance 
    • Cafeteria plans 
    • ERISA fiduciary duty, reporting and disclosure issues and other ERISA Title I matters 
    • COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, ADA, ADEA and other federal and state laws affecting employee benefit plans

As tax issues are an important part of most transactions, this section provides guidance and resources to other firm practices, including bankruptcy, real estate, commercial transactions, corporate matters, domestic relations and employment law. Our attorneys have handled the due diligence necessary to resolve employee benefits issues relating to mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs, and layoffs, including plan termination and withdrawal liability issues.

The section also frequently sponsors seminars and provides speakers for professional and business organizations in the community.
