Emily Burton, Webinar Panelist, "Governance Issues of Distressed Companies," ABA Business Law Section

March 29, 2018

Corporate Partner Emily Burton will be participating in an online panel discussion sponsored by the ABA Business Law Section on March 29th from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.  The panel entitled, “Governance Issues of Distressed Companies,” will focus on the fiduciary duties owed by the board of directors and senior management as a company enters the “zone of insolvency.”  The webinar will provide attendees with 1.5 General CLE Credit Hours.

The governance issues of distressed companies often call for a combination of legal expertise in both corporate governance and business bankruptcy.  The ABA Business Law Section has recognized this through the creation of a Joint Subcommittee on Governance Issues of Distressed Companies, which is part of both the BLS Corporate Governance and Business Bankruptcy Committees.  The Joint Subcommittee has just completed a landmark 50-state survey of laws bearing on this important area of governance, highlights of which will be shared by the panel.
