Norman M. Powell to speak at the North Carolina Bar Association’s 2018 Business Law Institute

February 15, 2018

The 2018 North Carolina Business Law Institute will take place Thursday, February 15, 2018.  Joining attorneys from throughout North Carolina, Norman M. Powell will be presenting a review of salient issues relating to the filing of financing statements under Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.  He will emphasize – and provide tips to better assure – the rendering of debtors’ names with precision, and the avoidance of risks associated with moving data from paper to electronic filings for both secured parties and lawyers providing legal opinions.

Top business lawyers and international law practitioners will gather at this annual event at Pinehurst Resort. A February favorite, these programs include multiple hot topic updates, sessions on ethics in transactional matters, and attorney wellness.

Mr. Powell is a partner in the Delaware law firm of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP, where his practice includes formation of and service as Delaware counsel to corporations, limited liability companies, and statutory trusts, and the delivery of legal opinions relating to such entities, security interests, and other matters of Delaware law.  He is an American Bar Association advisor to the Permanent Editorial Board on the UCC and an American Bar Association Business Law Section Advisor to the Uniform Law Commission’s Series of Unincorporated Business Entities Committee. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
