Dietz v. City of Wilmington

The United States District Court for the District of Delaware denied a motion for summary judgment filed by Plaintiff Nancy Dietz, a Wilmington Police Department captain who claimed she was wrongfully denied a promotion to the position of inspector because of her race and gender. The Court held that whether the City had maintained a “quota system” for the police department inspector positions was a matter for the jury to decide.

Teresa Cheek, on behalf of the City of Wilmington, and co-counsel Dan Rath and Rebecca Butcher, on behalf of Mayor James Baker, successfully defended the motion.
