Peace v. Shellhorn & Hill, Inc.
The Employment Law Section has succeeded in obtaining summary judgment for its client, Shellhorn & Hill, Inc., in an age discrimination case, obviating the need for a jury trial that was scheduled to begin on February 28, 2005.
In Peace v. Shellhorn & Hill, Inc., the Plaintiff claimed he was terminated due to his age and that the company had a pattern of discriminating against older employees. In an opinion, dated February 18, 2005, District Court Judge Gregory Sleet vindicated the company, pointing out that the Plaintiff's claim was "belied by [the company's] record" of hiring and retaining older employees.
