Biography

Mariam’s practice includes representing debtors, creditors, and other stakeholders in intricate restructuring transactions and all stages of bankruptcy proceedings.

Prior to joining Young Conaway, Mariam was a Bankruptcy, Restructuring, and Insolvency Litigation associate at a New Jersey law firm, gaining unique insight into the representation of debtors, creditor committees, trustees, and other parties in bankruptcy cases, restructurings, and other distressed situations.

Following law school, Mariam sharpened her analytical, research and writing skills having clerked for the Honorable Ashely M. Chan in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Mariam provides pro bono services for low-income debtors filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and seeking a discharge of their debts.  During law school, Mariam has served as a volunteer interpreter and translator for the University of Pennsylvania Transnational Legal Clinic, where she interpreted among French, Arabic, and English for law student representatives and immigration officers to conduct client interviews and explain substantive immigration law to clients.
