With sadness we report that Bruce M. Stargatt, Esquire, one of our firm's founding partners, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012. In 1959, Mr. Stargatt, along with H. Albert Young, started a law firm that would become one of Delaware's largest and best-known. During his legal career, Mr. Stargatt served the State, its citizens, and the Delaware and national legal communities with tireless dedication and great distinction. He practiced law at Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP until his retirement in 2000. Earlier this summer, Delaware Governor Jack Markell awarded Mr. Stargatt the Order of the First State, the highest honor Delaware’s Governor can bestow, in recognition of his outstanding and meritorious service. Beloved for his intellect, judgment, wisdom, leadership, mentoring, compassion, and friendship, Mr. Stargatt will be greatly missed.
