Young Conaway Announces the Appointment of James M. Yoch, Jr. as Chair, and Paul J. Loughman as Vice-Chair, of the Firm's Corporate Litigation and Counseling Section

Young Conaway is pleased to announce that the firm management committee has appointed James M. Yoch, Jr. to serve as Chair, and Paul J. Loughman to serve as Vice-Chair, of the firm's Corporate Litigation and Counseling Section.

James has practiced law in Delaware for his entire career after graduating from Saint Joseph’s University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. James joined Young Conaway’s Corporate Litigation and Counseling Section after clerking on the Delaware Court of Chancery for the Honorable Donald F. Parsons, Jr.  He has spent his career focusing on Delaware corporate and commercial litigation, has been named as one of Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Litigators in America since 2023, and is ranked by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers.  James assumes the role of Chair of Young Conaway’s Corporate Litigation and Counseling Section after serving as Vice Chair since 2021.  James also serves as Vice Chair of Young Conaway’s Hiring Committee.  James succeeds Tammy L. Mercer in this role.  “I am excited to move into this role for the firm and thank Tammy for her excellent stewardship of the section over the past four years.”

Paul focuses his practice on corporate and complex commercial litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Paul has litigated cases involving, among other things, mergers and acquisitions, controlling stockholder transactions, stockholder derivative claims, post-closing earn-out and indemnification issues, corporate stock appraisal, shareholder rights plans, advancement and indemnification demands, books and records demands, alternative entity governance, and trade secrets.  In addition to his litigation practice, Paul advises business entities and directors on matters involving Delaware corporate law. Paul joined Young Conaway’s Corporate Litigation and Counseling Section after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2010.  Before law school, he served in the United State Marine Corps and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.
