FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Wilmington, DE) - Young Conaway is proud to share that Pro Bono Manager Tania M. Culley has received the Community Service Award from the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA). This distinguished honor recognizes members of the legal profession who demonstrate exceptional commitment to serving the community beyond their legal practice. The award was presented at the Law Day Luncheon on May 1, 2026, at the Hyatt Riverfront Events in Wilmington, Delaware.

Ms. Culley joined Young Conaway in September 2025 after her retirement from the Office of the Child Advocate (OCA), having been appointed as Delaware’s first Child Advocate in 1999.  During her twenty-six years at the OCA, Ms. Culley tirelessly advocated for the safety and well-being of children. She was responsible for drafting legislation and developing training programs which permitted attorney volunteers to join members of the agency in representing abused and neglected children in Delaware’s legal system. She also served as Executive Director of the Child Protection Accountability Commission (CPAC) in Delaware. The commission is tasked with monitoring child protection systems and making recommendations for improvements.  Ms. Culley was previously recognized for her decades of service and leadership with a Tribute from the State of Delaware’s House of Representatives.

Ms. Culley is a graduate of Christiana High School, the University of Delaware, and Widener Law School. She worked as a Deputy Attorney General representing the Delaware Division of Family Services before serving as Child Advocate. She was also inducted into the Hall of Fame of Delaware Women in 2019.

Young Conaway congratulates all of this year’s Law Day honorees and applauds their efforts to advance the legal profession and strengthen the Delaware community through service.
