Biography
Rolin Bissell is a Senior Counsel who writes and speaks about how organizations—both companies and nonprofits—can be governed in ways that are effective, accountable, and worthy of public trust. His work reflects a long-standing interest in the health of civic life and the institutions that make self-government possible. He supports that commitment through volunteer service to the National Constitution Center, the American Philosophical Society, and other organizations devoted to civic education, civic engagement, and the preservation of a free and vibrant civil society.
Rolin’s perspective is shaped by more than 40 years working alongside boards of directors and investors during their most consequential moments. He has advised on major corporate transactions, periods of financial stress, and high-stakes disputes—situations where leadership, judgment, and sound governance matter most. Courts and regulators have also called on his experience: he has served as a court-appointed corporate receiver and guardian ad litem in Delaware and as a settlement monitor appointed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Earlier in his career at Young Conaway, Rolin was a member of the Firm’s Management Committee and chaired its Corporate Litigation and Counseling practice, roles that combined firm leadership with front-line engagement in some of the most consequential governance disputes and transactions.
