Young Conaway’s Commitment to Racial Equality and Equal Justice

July 1, 2020DEI News

As a firm, Young Conaway is committed to racial equality and equal justice. The last few weeks have served as a painful reminder, both here in Delaware and around the world, that all of us can, and must, do more to ensure that racial equality is a collective reality, not merely an aspiration.  We are exploring as a firm ways that we can improve and continue to push for equal justice for all, most especially for those who have historically been held down, both systematically and far too often through brutality.

In the short term, we reaffirm Young Conaway’s commitment to racial equality and equal justice by financially supporting the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the Equal Justice Initiative, the Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence in Sussex County, the Serviam Girls Academy in New Castle and LYTE Scholars.  The firm will also continue to make its annual contribution to the Combined Campaign for Justice in addition to all of the other excellent organizations that the firm’s partners regularly support.

But as a firm we also recognize that it will take more than financial support alone to correct the generations of racial discrimination in our state and beyond. Young Conaway will therefore continue to look for ways to support equal justice for all of our neighbors and to help the community heal.
