James L. Patton, Jr. Becomes Chairman Emeritus After 18 Years in Leadership; Michael R. Nestor to Serve as Vice Chairman

(Wilmington, DE) - Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, LLP is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2019, Vice Chairman Robert S. Brady will assume the role of Chairman.  Brady succeeds James L. Patton, Jr. who will now serve as Chairman Emeritus. Michael R. Nestor will assume the role of Vice Chairman. Brady, Nestor and Patton will continue to maintain their longstanding, respective restructuring practices.

“Bob and Mike are very well suited to assume these leadership positions, having been actively engaged in the management of the firm for the past several years. I am confident that under their direction the Firm will continue to grow and maintain its deeply rooted commitment to client service and community,” said Patton. “It was my privilege to serve as chairman for the past 18 years and I look forward to working with Bob and Mike in their new roles.”

Brady previously led the firm’s Bankruptcy group and has served on the Firm’s Management Committee since 2001.  In addition to his leadership roles, Brady is focused on providing clients with practical, business-oriented solutions to complex corporate restructurings and wind-downs. He has represented clients in all aspects of the Chapter 11 restructuring process, including debtors, official committees, lenders, ad hoc committees, secured and unsecured creditors and purchasers.

Nestor, who serves as a member of the Firm’s Management Committee, co-chair of the Firm’s Portfolio Company Specialty Group, and head of the Firm’s New York office, has focused his practice of more than 20 years on representing companies in distress. Mike has developed an expertise in portfolio company management, merging his corporate governance and restructuring experience to provide state of the law guidance to boards, management and sponsors of companies in myriad states of distress. 

As Chairman Emeritus, Patton will support the firm’s strategic growth in New York and other locations throughout the country.  He will also continue to advise businesses seeking restructuring advice and provide counsel to individuals serving as future claimants’ representatives, independent board committee members, and monitors of civil litigation.
